About  Life in the Hill

About
LITH_Dec24_edited.jpg

Life in the Hill, a distinctive monthly publication, is designed to unite businesses and families in the Rock Hill area. It’s not just a magazine; it’s a community effort. Local businesses sponsor Life in the Hill, and it’s mailed to homeowners every month. Inside, readers can find heartwarming stories of hometown families, heroes, charities, and the city’s vibrant history. Our invitation to residents to actively participate in each issue sets us apart, whether it’s sharing a favorite recipe, a snapshot of their child’s artwork, or even articles about their interests.

Because of the neighborly feel of the publication, businesses reap the benefits of joining Rock Hill’s social circle, and through Expert Contributor articles, companies become trusted voices in the community. In addition to print ads, clients can add various digital options to their marketing approach. In bringing people and local businesses together, we hope to stimulate economic growth right here in Rock Hill.

I'm Terri Urda, the publisher of Life in the Hill. I moved to York County in 2018 from upstate NY, but made Rock Hill my home in 2020! I'm a wife, mother of three and mima to six grandbabies. When I'm not scouring the corners of the city for stories, I enjoy pickleball and watching the NY Yankees and NY Giants!

Content  Coordinator:  Lindsey Babuder

I moved to the area 10 years ago and love to highlight amazing Rock Hill families and nonprofits. When I'm not writing for the magazine, I'm probably driving my three kids to games, practices, and competitions!

Resident Feature

Every family, with its unique story, is a part of our diverse community tapestry. This is why our most-read article always features a family or a group on our front cover, sharing their dreams, hopes, and aspirations. Our cover has been a canvas of diversity, from couples who have spent their entire lives in Rock Hill to those who found each other in far-off lands. If you know a family that should be represented on our cover, we invite you to send us your nominations. Who knows, it could be your family next!

Community

Your active participation is crucial in shaping our newsletter. What do you think the people of Rock Hill would like to hear about? Are there school events we should know about? Have you taken the trip of a lifetime, with pictures and places to share with our readers? Rock Hill is a treasure trove of historical stories and information. What do you know about the town’s history? Send us those tidbits of information!

Expert Contributor

We offer a unique opportunity for businesses to become experts in their field and brand themselves into the community! With this sponsorship, you can include informational articles with your ad on a quarterly basis! What’s even better…there is only one expert, so the exclusivity is unparalleled for any business! Contact us if you want to hear more about the benefits that our experts receive!

Highlighting the Helpers

Do you have a neighbor whose good deeds make Rock Hill a better place? Is there a beloved school employee who enables all children to feel safe, secure, and loved? Is there a local business that contributes regularly and helps those in need? We want to meet these people!

Pet Corner

Our take on this feature differs slightly from many similar publications. Whereas the others post pet photos, we chose to team up with the York County Humane Society and try to get dogs and cats adopted! Each month, we feature a few of the furbabies looking for fur-ever homes. We’re looking for a business that would like to sponsor this page….check with me if you’re looking to help the pet population in the county!

Recipe Corner

We’d also like to make this a monthly feature with a sponsor! We all have family-favorite recipes, especially around the holidays! Send us your recipes, and we may share them with the masses so they can start their own family traditions!

Kids Corner

This is all things kid-related! We want to showcase students’ artwork, poetry, and other academic accomplishments. We can offer a free classified section for our young entrepreneurs' budding businesses or include a student review of a local restaurant, park, or event! We want the kiddos involved, too!!

More to Come!

We have so many ways to grow our publication! Some possibilities….a monthly Sports section, a Business Builder spotlight, Senior Moments for our 55+ readers, Gardening Tips, or Health and Wellness! What are your ideas? Remember, we’re in this together!

Testimonials

"Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant to sign the contract with Life In The Hill for marketing, but I am SO glad that I did. There are so many great features about sponsorship! The first, is that in addition to your traditional advertisement, I can write up to 4 full-page articles per year, to communicate directly with my clients so they get the message I WANT them to have! Secondly, not only did I get a lead off of the first issue, it was a very wealthy client with a very high dollar ticket. I learned at that point that Life In The Hill targets wealthier communities, helping you get a higher profit margin. Highly recommended, and I am actually considering upping my account to the next tier based on the results I have already seen."
